A couple weeks ago Zac and I ordered those pasta bread bowl things from Dominoes..

Jesus made them.

They were special.

And kinda gross…. but it’s ok.

Moldy Diapers

June 10, 2009

Ahh. Dearest bloggity blog. How could I have forgotten about you for so long??

Lots of stuff has been going on lately…

Zac and I went down to Newport News for a wedding two-ish weeks ago.. it was nice.. We got to see a lot of people I haven’t seen in awhile.. makes me miss being down there freshman year of college!!

The Tuesday after Memorial Day, our outside outlet of the house that the sump pump is plugged into died.. aaand our basement partially flooded.. OMG. Nothing is worse than the smell of mildewing carpet.. not even Zac’s farts.. and those are pretty bad! ;) We rented a carpet cleaner.. vacuumed up the water… still stinky. We have yet to have someone come out and take care of it.. The Landlord said he called an electrician.. Zac spoke with the electrician as well, and was told that he was “vewwy busy” and would call when he was free.

Now let me tell you about this electrician… he seems like a very nice old man… but does not speak hardly a lick of engrish. We had him come to the house shortly after we moved in because the light switch in the bathroom died..probably because I overloaded the one outlet in there with a blow dryer and curling iron.. but we won’t speak of that. Anywhore. He fixed it after many minutes of trying to explain what happened.. the language barrier thing really is a challenge.  I have no patience.. I know I should- I feel bad.. but UGH! All those years living overseas and no problem.. but be in the US and try to talk to someone who has lived here for longer than I have been alive who STILL can’t speak english, and  I am a completely different person.  Oh well.

Sooo he still hasn’t come to fix the outlet for the Sump Pump.. and I am quite convinced after the conversation that Zac told me they had, that he thinks it is a fixture or something in a bedroom in the back of the house… whatever. As long as it gets fixed and our basement stops smelling like rotten diapers, I don’t care who fixes it.

But for those of you who are looking to remove the smell of mold if your carpet gets wet:
- Get some mold prevention spray from Home Depot or another home improvement store to stop mold from growing… soak the carpet in this.. and any area around where it was wet so it doesn’t spread.  Let it dry. (This also works on walls and other surfaces too apparently, and is odorless.)

- Get a spray bottle, fill with 1/3 vinegar and 2/3 hot water. Spray entire area until damp but not soaking wet. Dry with fan or air dry.

- Sprinkle LOTS of baking soda on dry vinegary carpet. let sit for a couple hours.. Vacuum up.

- Sprinkly delicious smelling carpet powder/deodorizer on carpet, let sit for a couple hours. Vacuum up.

Carpet will still smell kinda moldy.. But not like a vat of rotting diapers. Repeat with carpet powder a few times till it goes away. Good luck!

On another note.. My boyfriend is absolutely amazing. These last two weeks have made me realize that I have the bestest boyfriend I could ever ask for! He makes my heart happy. <3

Also. We saw The Hangover on Friday. HI-fricken-LARIOUS! Definitely recommend.

AAAAAnd. I <3 Netflix. Best investment EVAR!
