International Spy Museum

June 30, 2008

Weee!

Yesterday, Zac and I took our moms to the International Spy Museum in DC! It was awesome!! We bought tickets for Operation Spy, and to tour the museum. Operation Spy was really neat!

In the beginning, they take you upstairs and tell you a bit about what you are going to do..You are a spy going into a place called Kandhar, Africa. You must work together as a group to solve some clues and accomplish the mission bestowed upon you. There is a big wall in front of you, and after they finish, they tell your group that you have 60 seconds to find the entrance to the room from the wall in front of you. We poked and prodded at the wall and finally found the spot where the door was. I wont tell!

Once you enter the room, they tell you a bit about what you are going to be doing. You do a little meet and greet with the group.. and then proceed to a briefing room where you watch a video transmission from two gentlemen who are at your command post. They tell you about the people you have to find, what you need to find, and about your mission. Then there are some activities on little tvs where you track a woman via security cameras outside and inside of a hotel.

After this, you go into a control room, where there is a plethora of audio equipment. You must decode an audio transmission from people involved in the mission, and decide what your next steps are going to be.

After you leave this room, you take a bumpy elevator ride down into some dark, cold tunnels, and must solve a puzzle involving security cameras, so you can enter the basement office of someone very important to your mission.

Once you solve the puzzle, you enter the office, and begin rummaging through things looking for a bomb trigger (the main part of your mission), and scanning documents to view later that will give you information about the mission. The trigger is in the room!!! And you must unlock a safe to find it!

Once this is done, you quickly climb into the back of your command center truck, and go for a bump ride to a safe house. On the ride, you discuss what you saw in the office, and what you found. Once you arrive to the safe house, you are given a chance to aide in administering a lie detector test to a main suspect. After the test is over, your group decides on how they want to handle the rest of the mission. There are two options and the majority rules. After you make your decision, you are taken to a safe spot, and rescued by a helicopter. You then watch the news about the outcome of your decisions, and find out if they were the right ones or the wrong ones!

Then its over! I enjoyed it a lot. Then we explored the museum for a couple of hours. It is by far one of the best museums I have been to. It was VERY interactive, and interesting.

I definitely recommend taking a trip there.

We passed the Crime & Punishment Museum on our way back to the metro. Hopefully that will be our next stop!

bastard filling

June 15, 2008

Things are going well at work so far! I’ve learned a few more things about the Training Center.. and now I can register students for classes and update stuff in the computer. Aside from that, I have been making books, setting up the bistro area for breakfast and lunch… and a few random other things. Is it weird that when Im trying to think of things to do, I keep thinking ‘Is there anything I can type?’ Why on earth do I want to type so bad?? It’s weird to me!!

So I went to bartending school like 3 weeks ago… it was cool. I am going to go on saturday and take my speed test so I can get my certificate through them… I am officially TAM (Techniques of Alcohol Management) certified… And once I take my speed test ( we have to make 12 drinks in 7 minutes or less, with 3 or less errors) I will have my certification from PBS (Professional Bartending School) and I’m going to try and find a REALLLLYY part time job bartending somewhere… mostly to make extra money… and also to justify paying $600 to take the bartending classes.. I don’t want that money to be wasted!! I also think it would be a good way to meet some more people around here!

I’ve been having a lot of really weird dreams lately. Last night I dreamt that I was going to Pizza Hut to buy some pizza. And they had a drive through, so I went to the drive through to get my pizza, but then ordered a hamburger and some fries. Then I drove to my house, but it wasn’t MY house… it was some gynormous monstrosity of a house that I lived in with Zac and some other people I didn’t recognize but apparently knew.

Then the dream turned into something like a horror movie… everyone hiding and running from people trying to kill us… this time it was these weird insect things that looked like giant praying mantises, but they were yellow and red and they bit your head off if they landed on you.. so we were all running from them… trying not to let them into our rooms.. Zac and I baracaded ourselves into a room that had a pool and some other weird crap. And we could see their legs sticking under the door frame… so we got some towels and stuffed them in front of all the doors so they couldn’t get in… they they tried to get into the windows.. so we put wood (which we just happened to find laying right next to the pool) planks up over the windows and blocked them from getting in…

We sat in the room for a long time… we could hear the other people that live with us screaming and crying from other rooms in the house.. but nothing was trying to get into the pool room anymore. So we opened one of the doors, Zac took out his gun in case one of the mantises tried to kill us, and we slowly walked out. There was NOTHING there anymore. We walked into the kitchen and two of the people we lived with were sitting at the table drinking and playing cards.. they looked at us like we were crazy and one of them asked Zac why he had his gun out. We asked them where all the bugs went and they had NO idea what we were talking about. Soooo we then went into our room and sat down and tried to figure out what was going on… we eventually ended up falling asleep.. and woke up to screaming and loud noises…I opened the bedroom door, and there was Zac, standing on the other side with a huge knife.. and he swung it at me and stabbed me in the chest..

then i woke up. wtf.

Zac came to visit Friday and Saturday.. We were lazy on Friday and sat around… I made my yummy fettuccine for dinner! :D Then Saturday we went to Gander Mountain with Casey and bought Daddy his father’s day presents. We got him a really nice fishing pole and some line. Theeeeen went out to dinner for father’s day at Smokey Bones. Our waitress sucked. Why do we always get sucky waitresses when go out? she got  a crappy tip! thats what she gets for being sucky.

Today was not only father’s day, but also my parent’s anniversary.. So Casey and I made them dinner.. I made Caprese Salad, Tuscan roasted potatoes, ad Almond crusted chicken.. and casey made eggplant parmesan.. It was delicious!!

Annnd thats it! I’m bored now. Boooooo.

lots of new stuffs!

June 5, 2008

So lots of newness since my last post.

I finally quit my job with the County…and about 3 weeks later got a new job with ManTech-SMA. YAY ME!! I am a Training Assistant… helping set up and organize all the training classes that they have. So far its not too bad. I haven’t done much this week. I filled out all my paperwork at Orientation on Monday.. then came to work for my first day Tuesday… I have helped set up the cafe area in our office for the students to eat lunch and breakfast.. and I have learned how to make books on this monstrosity of a printer that takes longer to spool and upload documents than it would probably take a turtle to walk to work from my house.. which also sucks.. the whole driving to work thing.. its not close!! well, its not super far away, 40 miles.. but in DC traffic thats like 5 years… or 1.5-3+ hours every morning.. unless I bum a ride from my dad, then we take the HOV lane and pick up a slug.. then its not so bad.. i just get to work super early.. but then i get to leave super early too and beat some of the horrid traffic!

other than that. i like it so far!!! I may even get a promotion by the end of the year or so.. so that would be awesome!!!! I also have to get a clearance.. which will be good and help me a lot later on with jobs if/when I decide to leave.

Zac and I are still dating!! YAY. He is amazing. We have been dating for a little over 6 months now.. and it has been the best 6 months of any relationship I have ever had!!

He took me skydiving for my birthday! How awesome is that!?!?! It was absolutely AMAZING. and sooooo much fun. He is the bestest. We went to Westpoint and jumped there.. I would love to go again.. and then maybe one day when I’m nice and rich, jump lots of times and be able to jump alone..that would be sweet.

OO. You know what else is good about my job?? Not working for a local government! I will NEVER do that again!! ManTech is SOOOO much more organized… everything is better.. and I get benefits! WHOO! Which is good.

I’ve been going down to Newport News alot and visiting, and Zac has come up here a bunch of times for job interviews and such.. We went strawberry picking on Saturday at Belvedere Plantation.. SOOO many strawberries!! 10 pounds!!!!it was fun.. and I got sunburned…. not tooo badly, but since I’m a ghost, even a little burn hurts a lot.. its almost gone now though.

thats all i can think of for now! im forgetting a lot.. but I will add later.
