Weee!
Yesterday, Zac and I took our moms to the International Spy Museum in DC! It was awesome!! We bought tickets for Operation Spy, and to tour the museum. Operation Spy was really neat!
In the beginning, they take you upstairs and tell you a bit about what you are going to do..You are a spy going into a place called Kandhar, Africa. You must work together as a group to solve some clues and accomplish the mission bestowed upon you. There is a big wall in front of you, and after they finish, they tell your group that you have 60 seconds to find the entrance to the room from the wall in front of you. We poked and prodded at the wall and finally found the spot where the door was. I wont tell!
Once you enter the room, they tell you a bit about what you are going to be doing. You do a little meet and greet with the group.. and then proceed to a briefing room where you watch a video transmission from two gentlemen who are at your command post. They tell you about the people you have to find, what you need to find, and about your mission. Then there are some activities on little tvs where you track a woman via security cameras outside and inside of a hotel.
After this, you go into a control room, where there is a plethora of audio equipment. You must decode an audio transmission from people involved in the mission, and decide what your next steps are going to be.
After you leave this room, you take a bumpy elevator ride down into some dark, cold tunnels, and must solve a puzzle involving security cameras, so you can enter the basement office of someone very important to your mission.
Once you solve the puzzle, you enter the office, and begin rummaging through things looking for a bomb trigger (the main part of your mission), and scanning documents to view later that will give you information about the mission. The trigger is in the room!!! And you must unlock a safe to find it!
Once this is done, you quickly climb into the back of your command center truck, and go for a bump ride to a safe house. On the ride, you discuss what you saw in the office, and what you found. Once you arrive to the safe house, you are given a chance to aide in administering a lie detector test to a main suspect. After the test is over, your group decides on how they want to handle the rest of the mission. There are two options and the majority rules. After you make your decision, you are taken to a safe spot, and rescued by a helicopter. You then watch the news about the outcome of your decisions, and find out if they were the right ones or the wrong ones!
Then its over! I enjoyed it a lot. Then we explored the museum for a couple of hours. It is by far one of the best museums I have been to. It was VERY interactive, and interesting.
I definitely recommend taking a trip there.
We passed the Crime & Punishment Museum on our way back to the metro. Hopefully that will be our next stop!
